I was going for a dark IPA, reminiscent of the India Brown Ale from DogfishHead. I mashed for 90 min @ ~150F with 1.5 gal of water. I sparged it out to about 3 gal for the boil. I boiled it down to about 2 gal and topped it up with cold water to 2.5 in the fermenter. I fermented for 2 weeks in the primary and bottled after that with corn sugar for priming.
The beer has a beautiful dark brown color – almost porter dark. The hop bitterness is perfect, but I would love to have a bit more hop aroma and flavor. This beer would definitely have benefited from dry hopping.
